Washington DC [US], April 15: The number of casualties from a US airstrike targeting a ceramics factory on the outskirts of Yemen's capital Sana'a has risen to 36, "most of them civilians," the pro-Iranian Houthi rebel group said Monday.
"The strike carried out by the American aggression's aircraft on the Al-Sawari Ceramics Factory resulted in 6 martyrs and 30 injured, most of whom are civilians working in the factory, neighbouring homes, and a nearby farm," Youssef Al-Hadhari, spokesman for the Houthi-run Ministry of Health, said.
Five children and one woman were among the injured, Al-Hadhari added.
The Ministry of Health condemned "the American aggression on Yemen and its direct targeting of civilian objects and civilians." According to the spokesman, 123 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in US airstrikes on Yemen since March 16. The total number of casualties stands at 370, he said.
The United States carried out three airstrikes on Sunday evening targeting the Al-Sawari Ceramics Factory in the Al-Yatmah area west of Sana'a, according to the Houthis and eyewitnesses.
So far, the US Central Command has not commented on the reports.
Footage broadcast by the Houthis shows a fire said to have broken out in the factory immediately after the strike, along with efforts to search for those missing under the rubble.
