Russia - Ukraine fierce fighting across the front line

Moscow [Russia], August 7: According to Ukrinform news agency, citing Mr. Kovaliov, Ukrainian forces repelled 41 enemy attacks on the Pokrovsk front. Meanwhile, in the Toretsk direction, the Russian side, with the support of aircraft, carried out 26 attacks in the Pivnichne, Toretsk and New York areas. In addition to many points of conflict in Donetsk, the two sides also clashed fiercely in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia provinces. The Ukrainian army said that Russia had conducted 50 air strikes with 64 guided glide bombs, organized 752 suicide drone attacks and fired more than 4,800 artillery shells and 114 multiple rocket launchers in Ukraine.
In the capital Kyiv, The Kyiv Independent reported that at least four large explosions occurred shortly after air raid sirens sounded at around 11 p.m. on August 5 (local time) and the Ukrainian Air Force warned of incoming missiles. The city's military agency said Russia used two Kh-59 cruise missiles and two Iskander-M or KN-23 ballistic missiles, along with 15 UAVs.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko later said that air defense systems had been deployed to intercept the drones in Kyiv province. According to Kyiv Governor Ruslan Kravchenko, an apartment building, an office building and two gas stations were damaged, but there were no casualties.
In Russia, interim governor of Kursk province Alexei Smirnov said on August 6 that Ukraine had fired artillery, injuring five people, and had sent in many UAVs, including at least 26 that were destroyed by Russian air defense forces. He said several buildings in the town of Sudzha were damaged. In addition, Russian forces in Kursk also thwarted a Ukrainian infiltration attempt in the region, according to Mr. Smirnov. In Belgorod province, governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that Ukraine had launched a UAV attack, killing one person. The Russian Defense Ministry said that its forces had shot down many Ukrainian UAVs on August 5, including nine in the Belgorod region and 13 in the Kursk region.
In another development, TASS news agency on August 6 quoted Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin warning that US and European Union (EU) leaders could push the world to "tragic consequences" by coordinating military campaigns and continuing to send weapons to Ukraine.
