Nestled amidst the serene landscapes of Mehsana district of Gujarat, lies the ancient Hindu temple shrine, Sri Bahucharaji Mata Mandir. A place steeped in history and revered by countless devotees, the temple, one of the 51 Shaktipeeth, is set to undergo a significant transformation. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel recently laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the renovation of the temple in a solemn ceremony. Under the first phase, the height of the spire will be increased to 86 feet and 1 inch by rebuilding the temple at a cost of Rs 76.51 crore. DDO Mehsana, Dr. Hasrat Jasmine, said "with this project, the temple will be overall developed. There are also plans to take up nearby areas and develop them. We expect there will be more footfall. Keeping this in mind, the planning is being done." A priest explained the historical significance of the ancient temple, where pilgrimages are undertaken for vows fulfilled and boons granted. The goddess is also a principal deity of the eunuchs or the hijra community, who are also revered here. Devotees have expressed excitement about the project, saying that the revamp will not only enhance the temple's beauty, but also attract more pilgrims from far and wide. With the transformation, the ancient shrine is poised to play an even more significant role in the religious and cultural landscape of Gujarat.
