Heavy rainfall batters Andhra & Telangana, several trains cancelled due to waterlogging

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), September 02 (ANI): Continuous downpour has led to flood like situation in parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Severe waterlogging is witnessed in various parts of Vijayawada, due to heavy rainfall. Police and NDRF teams carried out rescue operations and affected residents being relocated to rehabilitation centers. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu inspected the flood situation in Vijayawada on September 02.
South Central Railway, General Manager Arun Kumar Jain said, "The damage has been done at 418 km and 432 km. Here (at 418 km), the damage was done at 5 places, out of which we have attended 4 spots and this is the last and major spot. Similarly, at 432 km, 4 spots sustained the damage, out of which we have attended 3 spots of damage and the major one is left. We are trying to restrain the water flow right now...This work (restoration work) is expected to be completed by tomorrow evening...We have cancelled several long-distance trains and some trains have been diverted...It is important for the safety of the people"
South Central Railways, Secunderabad Division, Chief Project Manager Subramaniam said, "We are attending the breach at kilometre 418. The breach is set mainly at 418, 432 and 433 km. At 418 km, out of six breaches we have attended five main breaches. The main breach we are attending right now is a major breach and the length is around 70 meters. It can take some time...We are attending the kilometre 433 main breach now which is around 50 meters in length. So these two are the main breaches. We are attending these 2 main breaches right now..."
