New Delhi, December 10 (ANI): In an unprecedented turn of events, President Al-Assad’s over 50-year-old regime was brought down by the rebel forces
The rebel groups on Dec 08 took over the Syrian capital Damascus after President Al-Assad fled to Russia. Meanwhile, Israel has been closely eying the developments in Syria after the fall of al-Assad’s iron-fisted rule. PM Netanyahu said that Israel has been taking measures to head off any threat that could emerge after the overthrow. Netanyahu further stated that Golan Heights ‘will forever be an inseparable part of Israel’. Israeli PM Netanyahu also thanked Donald Trump for accepting the recognition request in 2019. Notably, PM Netanyahu spoke to Donald Trump after the latter was elected as the 47th US President. Earlier, Israeli military on Dec 7 said that it deployed additional forces to Israeli-occupied Golan Heights near the Syrian border. However, the international community except the US and Jerusalem does not recognise the Golan Heights as part of Israel.
